Mac was an outstanding man. The legacy he leaves behind through his career, friendships and family define a life well lived. My father had the privilege to work with and for Mac at the Sheriff's Office for many years. Many years after retiring, when my father could no longer drive, I would take him to Richards Coffee Shop in Winter Haven to meet Mac for coffee. What an honor it was for me to be able to sit with them. Mac would often ask "Do you miss it?", referring to being in law enforcement. Usually the subject would change before anyone would answer. However, I suspect, deep down, both of them did.
After my father passed, Mac made it a point to stay in touch with our family. He would frequently talk about the memories of his career and the love for his family. I would try to call him Mr Hall out of respect, but he would tell me, "it's Mac". It was a privilege and honor to have you as a friend to the Lord family, Mac. We will miss you.
